Patients of Wye Valley NHS Trust who require hearing aid repairs are requested to call the audiology service for advice and not to attend the hospital.

While changes to audiology services remain in place, as part of Covid-19 measures, patients are being urged not to turn up at Hereford County Hospital if they don’t have a booked appointment.   

Samantha Cooper, head of audiology at Wye Valley NHS Trust, said: “We’re urging Trust patients with NHS hearing aids that require repair, or battery replacements, to call us on 01432 372939 for free advice, Monday to Friday, or email audiology@wvt.nhs.uk.  We will help to diagnose the fault over the phone and make the necessary arrangements for repairs. 

“We continue to provide ‘drop off only’ points for hearing aids requiring repair and we are accepting hearing aids via the postal service, but patients should not attend hospital without phoning us first.  Patients can also phone us or email if they have any other hearing concerns”. 

Patients can post the hearing aids to our audiology department for repair if they can access the postal service.  Please bear with us as it may take a little longer to get the hearing aids back to you via the post and we are doing everything we can to process them as quickly as possible.  

Patients need to label hearing aids with their full name, address, date of birth, NHS hospital number if known, what the fault is, and place them in a sealed envelope addressed ‘Audiology department, Hereford County Hospital, Wye Valley NHS Trust, Union Walk, Hereford. HR1 2ER’.
